In todays lesson me and Matilda finished filming our test video with Kiera. Matilda did all of the filming on her phone whilst I was in charge of the lighting. For all of the lighting in each of the shots I used two florescent lights. The colours that we ended up using were blue, light blue, pink and red. All of the lighting was hand held apart from the shots that we took today whereby you can see that we positioned the light blue behind one of the frost frames to create a damped coloured background whilst the pink light shined over her face which created a really nice lighting effect. The only shot that had more than two florescent lights was when we asked Kiera to sit on the stairs where we had three lights along the the wall of the stairs which looked really cool.
Now that Matilda has finished the edit for our test video it is now evident what works well and what doesn’t. In terms of what looks good, I would personally say that the majority of the shots of Kiera look good. Although none of the sets have been created we tried our best to find different locations around school that seem as though they would work for our video. With this in mind one of the first cons that I have with our test video would be the fact that none of the sets work with one another other than the shots with the florescent lighting as they all blend together really nicely. Another con that i have depicted from our test video is the shot duration for each shot. They are all too short and the entirety of the video feels really snappy and short cut. When we have our actual set designs we will be able to shoot multiple shots from different camera angles on each set which will give us more than enough footage for our music video and will also allow us show different shots in the same sets for longer periods of time in order to make the music video feel less jumpy from shot to shot.
