Further Digipak development

In todays lesson I decided to develop my Digipak design in terms of what works and what dose not. I did some further research to see what I could find by looking through google images after searching 'r&b female singers digipaks'. And these were some of the images that stuck out for me.

With each of digipak it's evident that the main subject in each of the covers is the artist themselves. The key element thats different in each of these other than the individual themselves is style, fashion and makeup. For example, the way that they have styled their hair and clothing.
Because of the fact that the song that r&b song that we have chosen is slightly more modern in terms of synthesis through the use of digital sounds and synthesisers. I felt as though the front cover could use some different post effects in order to present this due to the fact that the majority of the music that RUBI has created consists of similar characteristics meaning that if she were to release an album, these conventions should be portrayed.
I used a website called 'canva' to create these two digipak designs.

To show some fo the editing that I have done for these demo digipaks this is the un edited image I used:

Instagram Content Research

In todays lesson me and Luke registered a new instagram account to contribute towards our promotional campaign for our music video. I researched Jorja Smith's Instagram as well as Solange's in order to see what similar conventions they have that we should try and aim to recreate in our own instagram. Whilst looking through their instagrams I took screenshots (seen below) of all of the different types of content that they upload.

The majority of all of their posts are music based and promoting their recent releases and up coming albums and singles. The rest of the content provided are just photos or videos of their daily lives and their experiences. With this in mind, for the instagram that me and Luke are creating, I am going to take images of Kiera (our artist) that represent promotion/advertisement for upcoming music and photos of her in her natural element in order to show the audience her persona.

Meeting with lighting supervisor

In this meeting we were able to depict what lighting techniques we would use for each of the sets the we had in mind. We brought along our master document so that we could give the lighting supervisor a overview of how we would like each individual set to appear.

When I showed the lighting supervisor this page he immediately said that it would be possible the only thing that he would have to use some sort of software called Q lab in order to fit the irregular shaped images to the frost screens which he stated as not being too difficult.
He then stated that in terms of colour for sets, we do not need to worry because we have wash lights that can change colour in order to make the set appear the same way that we had envisioned. One of the only lights that we will be using that has a set colour other than the fluorescent lights is going to be a sodium yellow street light and we will make sure to only use one in order to create an exterior (outside) effect.
The other point that he gave us was that we should have the walls on an angle to create a false depth of field in order to make the room feel larger than it actually is.

Individual Digipak design

In todays lesson everyone was assigned to try and draw at what they feel as though their digipak's should look after having looked at the comparisons between digipak's in the same genres.

With this in mind I decided that I was going to include a visual of the solo artist on the front cover simply because of the fact that all of the digipaks in this genre all have the artist on display. Then i thought that it might be a cool idea to have some form of a visual that represents or identifies that she is from London in order to try and develop her character further to her audience.

In terms of colour I feel as though the entirety of the digipak on both sides should have a have a sun rise and sun set aesthetic on either side with extremely vibrant colours. I say this because on all of the digipaks that I looked at consisted of at least one colour that is able to draw peoples attention when browsing through digipaks in stores.

On the back of the digipak I was thinking that we could go with a some form of London landscape in a more distant form whereby the outline of each building would be less evident as the image should hopefully make the city of London appear to be in the far distance. With this then have each song title should appear in the top of the half of the  back image, with two small birds on either side to continue the characteristics from the front cover.
